When visiting your CityVille neighbors and giving them a helping hand, you gain reputation (or hearts, as some refer to it), which is basically an indication of how friendly, helpful and neighborly you are in the game.
The mechanics of getting reputation in CityVille are pretty simple: all you have to do is to visit your neighbors, help them around and get 1 heart per each action you perform. At the moment, there are no actions that you can perform to give you more than one heart at a time, but since FrontierVille has it, we do believe that in the future certain special buildings will give us two or more hearts in CityVille.
You can also level up your reputation level in the game, and each time you level up, you will receive a bunch of goods as a reward and also the chance to share some goodies with your friends. Apparently, leveling up your reputation in CityVille is simpler than in other games, and I’m sharing with you the requirements for each reputation level below:
Level 2 – 10 Hearts
Level 3 – 25 Hearts
Level 4 – 45 Hearts
Level 5 – 70 Hearts
Level 6 – 100 Hearts
Level 7 – 200 Hearts
Level 8 – 300 Hearts

Yes, but what do the hearts actually do? What is the benefit to having more hearts? That’s what I am trying to work out.
Gives you more energy, I have 36 hearts, so that means every time I visit neighbours and get an energy, this happens 36 times, its like bonus energy.
