  1. Jeff says:

Also with each one you buy with 20 permits the cost goes up a little for a while..then goes way up.

  2. maria says:

if you cant get pass level 60 the land shouldn’t go up. this is rediculous and its way too much!

  3. Sista Jue says:

FYI My next expansion is costing me 285 000 $

    • Denise says:

good, I thought they changed it and I was hosed………..it maxes out at 500,000 coins, then goes down to 20,000 there on out.

  4. Randilyn says:

My expansion will cost me 36 permits and 320,000 coins. What is the deal? I am at Level 52. This is getting to be not fun anymore. Might have to go to another game I can’t have fun anymore. I don’t like the frustration of all of this. Thank you.

    • Penny Coker says:

There has to be some huge glitch going on. It does not cost me that much and I am on level 78. My daughter is on level 50 and cost her under 20,000 and something like 16 permits. Its a great game if they get these bugs out. Don’t quit just tell them what you need…..YOUR MONEY BACK.

      • Denise says:

the maximum is 500,000 coins for an expansion, since then I’ve only paid 20,000 coins and 40 permits

      • Lori Soderling says:

I’m at level 56 and I just got the required zoning permits to purchase another expansion, yet it says I have to pay $40 cityville cash to unlock it, what is with that?????

  5. Genie says:

    I’m on level 52.

To get an expansion the terms are:
Have a population of 8040 and pay $225,000.00

In order to get a population that high, I need space to put houses etc so, I need an expansion – so it’s a bit catch22.

Anyway, it ticks me off the stuff you have to do to get the tiniest bit of land so…. I’m over it as well.

The other thing that is annoying me is that, in order to get my visitor centre going, I have to hire friends but it won’t let me hire ‘Cityville’ friends. I have to get my normal friends enlisted. This is silly because they’re not interested so that means I can’t get my centre opened.

I think it’s good to set the bar high and to make the game challenging. Cityville has got it wrong though – there’s a difference between challenging and frustrating to the point where people just walk away.

    • I “thought” that I would have to ask regular fb friends to join cityville in order to open Visitor Center too…………..NOT SO. I began getting staff invites from my gaming buds and wondered how this could be cause all that I read on Visitor Center it said staff had to be currently non-players. I had decided not to open the Visitor center…NOT GONNA BOTHER THEM. I accepted those staff invites I got and system told me I was this or that staff member so I built mine. You ARE given an OPTION to hire those gaming buds of yours. Happy playing to ya.

Website is my husband’s horse training web site. I post it any chance I get and since it had a place for a web site address, I did. Shows videos of him training horses and he sells those he raises after trained.

    • Klever0ne says:

same with me. im lv.55 and i have 6200 population and i need to have 6920 population more in order to expand. but i dont have enough space for new house. I checked my other neighbor with only 5000 population but their land is 6 expansion lots (12×12) more than my city. how come the pre-requisite for my small city is 6920 pop. in order to get the next expansion, but my neighbor got 6x lot more bigger than me??? doesnt make sense.. someone should explain this!!

      • Jennifer says:

The same thing happened to me and my friend. I started my city in December, and my landscape is huge – but she caught up her population, and still can’t get nearly the expansions I’ve had. She has since quit playing cityville…..It’s too bad, they have made changes to the game – but what they really needed to do was just give every single player 4 free plots of land, so we could have some fun making our cities artistic, rather than crammed packed like a tin of sardines. No sense in having all these decorations if we don’t have the space to place them.

I have now expanded my city as much as the map will allow – some of my highrighses are cut off at the top, I really wish they would expand the map, and give us bridges to get to the other side….

BTW: The worst challenge is getting the mint. All you do for a week + is collect money, and you can’t spend a thing. I just completed this task, got my mint – and feel like I don’t want to play cityville anymore. It’s too hard to make enough money, and almost every decoration, business and housing released this week requires REAL $$$…If Zynga is going to move towards a game that requires real money, they’re going to lose interest very quickly. It’s getting worse everyday…

  6. I'm at level 66 and to get an expansion, I need 40 permits and 20,000 coins? says:

I’m at level 66 and to get an expansion, I need 40 permits and 20,000 coins! The last expansion was for 20 permits and 150,000 coins! Very confusing and frustrated!

  7. ex says:

same here about the expansion except mine cost before 500 000 and 20 permits. doing all kind of changes. thanx to their stupid refreshing mode i’ve lost lots of items many times ..one thing worse than the other.. catching bandits you can win only once the special rewards and i did not get them at 3 and 4 level.:( damn. today discovered that when you press play it won’t do nothing and can’t play the game. my other friends has the same problem :( …what’s goin’ on..anyone?
    god that game sucks.

  8. JAYNE says:

i find trying to get permits hard work so expanding is becoming a chore love the game but getting fed up with this, think get ten permits at all times but put cost up on each one would be better

  9. Trixie says:

I also needed 40 permits to expand…before that was 20 with A LOT of money! It’s hard to get that many permits and I’ve run out of space. As soon as I think I’ll have extra space, they add another building! It’s getting to be no fun….something has got to change here!

  10. yahya says:

im lvl 52 and cost me only 28 permits and 20.000 idk why

  11. Jean Butler says:

I just paid for an expansion and submitted it on the Citi but it is not expanding. Please advise. The money was taken out of my account right away. Please advise

  12. I have baught so many expantions and I still cant expand my city, I want that fixed or my money back for everything I purchased on the city ville game.

  13. I can’t even buy expansions with coins anymore. It only excepts cityville cash. When did they start that. That really sucks!

  14. Ness says:

I still cant expand my city build housing & businesses…what’s goin’ on..anyone?
    Very confusing and frustrated!

  15. Kelly says:

    HELP!!!!!

I just spent the last few weeks frantically building my population inorder to purchase an expansion, however I accidentally placed it right on the edge of my city and now more than 3/4s of the land is not visible.

Does anyone know how I can move an expansion once placed? I haven’t worked it as yet…

    • Alina says:

Did you find out how to move expansion, I am in the same situation?

      • I understand your concerns, this has happened to me several and I finally figured out what to do, hopefully it will work the same.

1.) First I Maximize my screen, and then reduce the characters in my City (there are two ways – either you magnify of demagnify the view of your city), You can do that by clicking on the “Gear” icon on top of the “Gift” icon, there is a “(-)/(+) icons, use the (-). Maintain the maximized screen and demagnified icons

2.) After the number 1, then you would need to visit a neighbor of yours, pick any neighbor to visit and click the green “Visit” button, when your neighbor’s city appears, Click the “Return to your city Icon” and then you will see the whole are of your expansion.

3.) You need to maintain the maximized screen and demagnified view of your city and slow build from there, if you misclick, it will go back to the previous condition, then just repeat #1 and 2.

I hope this will work for you and enjoy building …

  16. Kelly says:

no – not as yet :(

  17. Lori Soderling says:

Has anyone else had to pay Cityville cash to unlock their expansions once they’ve reached the number of zoning permits needed? I got the zoning permits needed and now it says I need $40 cityville cash to unlock it. This is crazy! I don’t have it only $14 and I’m not about to buy cityville cash to play this game anymore which I was stupid to do first of all. Any suggestions?????

  18. Kelly says:

Thank you Rodavlas!!! it actually works!!! hard to work on the section as it does keep returning to previous state if you misclick – i have just moved all my storage sheds and ‘non-earning’ decorations there so i dont have to keep going back to it – so now i just have a storage expansion :)

  19. Mary says:

If you have enough cash and permits and it won’t let you expand ( you think you need to use cash) it is because you don’t have enough population!! This keeps happening to me and I figured it out. You need to increase your population to the level it says, then you should be okay

    • Brandy says:

Ya we know we have to increase our population, but did you notice by how much. It will take people months to do that. I have 115,000 population now, and they expect me to have 152,930 in order to place an expansion. I’m sorry but that is just ridiculous. I’m level 94, and I haven’t had to increase my population for a long time now to buy expansions. Now all of a sudden we have to and it’s triple the amount. It use to be only 1,000 every time. That’s easy! This is an issue and needs to get fixed asap!

  20. Illeana says:

I’m at level 70 and it’s just ridiculous as I need the expansion because I don’t have enough room and yet I have to find a way to put a couple thousand more pop in to even get the expansion that I need because I don’t have enough room as it is let alone put more houses in! Then if I manage to increase my pop enough to get the expansion I have to start building more houses to fill it up so I can get the next one.. viscious cycle and the stupid warehouse is hardly a help I already have enough in there for 2 expansions that I can’t get because I have to put in more population! ick!

  21. Alan Rubin says:

Well… there was an offer on CityVille before some time where the player could an expansion on 20% off. While it was not good for low level players; I found it working good for me :)

  22. Ryan Barone says:

I’m frustrated with Cityville today. I have enough population, enough coins and my citizens are happy. But everytime I try to expand, it says, “Attempting to connect to the server.” then it says it has to refresh to previously saved game. Earlier it was telling me that I wasn’t licensed to expand and hadn’t “fulfilled the gates.” Does anyone understand this? I tried changing browsers and that didn’t help. My other games work fine.

    • Joost says:

I have the same problem right now …

    • Robin S. says:

I am having the same problem. I have enough permits, money and population, but get the same error code each time. I tried it on another computer thinking maybe it was the computer, but still does not work. I also got a graveyard neighborhood that I did not mean to place and I have no idea how to move residences into it.

  23. Laura says:

Anyone else notice that in the last few days the expansion population required increased dramatically? I had enough population and just needed a few more zoning permits and I could finally expand to my wind farm. I got my ZP, went to expand, and it said I need 21,000 more population! Are they kidding? Now, it will take me forever to expand to my wind farm and I need to expand twice more to get to the beacon. Additionally, now I have 16 zoning permits that have been gifted that I can’t put in my inventory bc I am maxed. This is absurd!

    • Brandy says:

I’m having the same issue! I was about to buy 2 expansions at once, but when i clicked on it, it said i needed a population of 152,930, and i only have 115,000. I wasn’t able to finish my lighthouse goal on time, and i can’t get the windmills, nor any of the santa stuff. All the goals i have right now, deal with buying expansions. How do they expect us to finish any of these if we can’t buy them. It will take me FOREVER to get that much population. I’m level 94, and have been playing this game for 2 years now. They need to get this fixed. I thought that’s why it was down for an hour or so last night, but i guess not. I wrote to Zynga about it, but have not heard anything back yet. This is ridiculous. I have over 50 permits in my gifts that i can’t claim, plus 60 in inventory.

  24. Ryan Barone says:

I just sent a message to zynga support. It’s at the bottom of the Cityville game page. I told them the problem and they’re suppose to get back to me within 48 hours.
Wouldn’t hurt if everyone with the problem were to contact them so they don’t think it’s an isolated issue, although I mentioned that other people are complaining of the same problem.
It sucks that you have to expand to get Santa stuff or the helicopter or lighthouse and then you can’t do it. I thought they monitored these games.
If I get any info, I’ll come back and post it.

  25. Brandy says:

Can someone PLEASE tell me what the hell is going on with cityville and it’s population increase in order to place expansions????? I only have 115,000 population, and it’s telling me i need 152,930 more in order to place another expansion. It will take me months if longer to do that. All my goals i have now have to deal with me buying expansions, how do i complete them IF I CAN’T BUY EXPANSIONS????? SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT IS IN PROCESS OF GETTING FIXED! I’m not the only one who is having this issue either. I have been playing this game since it came out. I love it, but if this problem doesn’t get fixed there is no point to play especially since i can’t finish any of my goals because of it. Thank you, and please let me know what is going on.

  26. barbara hope says:

I have the same problem mine was even an overnight add on Have complained and all I get is u will be answered blah blah blah. goals forget it impossible to go forward. someone really goofed

  27. Ryan Barone says:

I complained previously about the inability to expand and not “fulfilling the gates,” however it’s been over 48 hours since I sent the email to Cityville support. Unfortunately, they haven’t answered me as promised so I can’t tell you any info about that. I keep trying, but what’s the point of playing if I can’t expand? I know I’m a valuable as a neighbor, but that’s not all I want to do. I’m only at level 14…maybe I’ll start over.
As I said, if I do hear anything I’ll post it.
As far as the high requirements for population, I have friends that are much higher than me…in the 50′s and they have no issues with that. At most, it’s a couple of thousand more pop to expand. It’s the blasted permits that are a problem. Who’s idea was it to need to expand for the helicopter, Holiday and Lighthouse and then take the permits off the free gift list? I can’t afford to by cash all the time, especially at this time of year and being between jobs at present.

  28. michelle says:

I suddenly needed 18,000 to unlock expansion so I too emailed Zynga thinking it was an error. This is the response I got…

Thanks for getting back to us!

In our continued effort to provide everyone with a fun and balanced gaming experience we are working on adjusting the current expansion costs/requirements.

What some of you are seeing is part of those adjustments, which are being rolled out slowly to all users while we continue to work on optimizing them in order to ensure the best gaming experience for our players.

We are focused on delivering a rich user experience, and we believe that this change -along with the many others to come- will result in a more complete and enjoyable game in the end.

Thank you for your feedback and understanding.

    Regards,
    Ivan Karol

  29. michelle says:

I then sent another email basically saying…”I don’t think you understand. Its impossible forme to complete goals without expanding, impossible to reach that population without expanding or spending money…It has to be an error!”

And this is the response I got from that…

“Thanks for getting back to us!

As mentioned these recent changes to the new population requirements for Expansions were part of the adjustments, which are being rolled out slowly to all our players.

Placing Expansions will be the same process, to meet all requirements by having enough Permits and Population, however, if you wish to by pass these tasks, you can use the other option by using City Cash.

We appreciate all of your ideas and suggestions with regard to these changes. We’ll be sure to pass it along to the development team where it will be discussed and reviewed.

You can also review more of these updates and send your feedback using this link:

  30. shannon says:

hi in cityville i know alot of people keep getting it , it says, “Attempting to connect to the server.” then it says it has to refresh to previously saved game. Earlier it was telling me that I wasn’t licensed to expand and hadn’t “fulfilled the gates.well you carnt really fix that unless you have 4 cash make you population low pay 4 cash to unlock then when you expand it will works

  31. Ryan Barone says:

I haven’t gotten an answer from Cityville support, but I went to my City today and was able to add two expansions and two buildings. I also now see the holiday expansions. I’ve had 7 cash for awhile and spent nothing to unlock any expansions. The expansions hadn’t worked when I first passed the 450 mark so I don’t understand the previous comment about making population ‘low.’ I wouldn’t know how to do that anyway.
I hope the other post about the requirements for expansion doesn’t mean that the cost will be that high. I don’t have a lot of friends…I started just to be a neighbor to a friend and now I’m hooked. I kind of like it small…I don’t have a lot of time to play. But it is hard with so many friends needed to staff buildings. Wish they’d lower that.
I still think sending them an email via the link at the bottom of the Cityville game page is the best thing to do, since it asks for information specific to you, so they can fix your issues.
I left Cityville and went back, expecting to see my expansions gone, but they are still there. I didn’t do anything prior to trying to expand, except ‘harvest’ my houses and stores, so I’m assuming that admin fixed the problem. Here’s hoping.
Good luck to everyone else…hope the game straightens out.

  32. shannon says:

if make you population low then click unlock then it works i did you last night it cost 4 cash i was just saying if you have this problem this is a way to fix it by the way ryan you like men

  33. Brandy says:

How do you make your population low??? By removing houses??? Mine still is not fixed. I still need 30,000 + in order to buy expansions. This is ridiculous. Christmas is almost here and I still have all the x-mas goals to finish, and can’t until i am able to buy expansions. I still haven’t heard anything back from Zynga yet and I’m getting pretty frustrated! Anyone know what’s going on??? Are they planning on fixing this issue???

  34. lucy says:

Hope someone can help me. Cityville says I have no permits yet I purchased a X40 pack and it shows in my inventory. How do I get that to work? I’m fairly new to cityville so don’t understand all the in and outs.
